Terms of use
Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 20 September 2026
1. Agreement
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of poordecisions.money and related payment flows (the “Service”), operated as Poor Decisions (“we”, “us”, “our”).
By accessing the Service, creating or using site credit, or making a payment, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service or pay for credit.
2. What the Service is (and is not)
The Service is a digital novelty and entertainment experience. You may buy site credit in whole pounds (minimum £1) and use that credit inside the experience to symbolically “burn” thoughts, feed a digital bonfire, and watch communal tallies update.
- No real-world destruction of currency. Nothing you do on the site destroys cash or legal tender.
- No banking product. Credit is not a deposit, savings balance, e-money wallet for third-party spend, or stored-value instrument you can cash out.
- No investment or security. Buying credit does not give you equity, profit share, interest, or ownership in us.
- Not gambling. This is not a lottery, prize draw, betting product, casino game, or game of chance offering winnings.
- Not charity unless we expressly run a labelled charitable campaign.
- Not advice. Nothing on the site is financial, legal, tax, medical, or professional advice.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract under the laws of England and Wales. By using the Service or paying, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements and that the payment method you use is yours (or that you are authorised to use it).
4. Digital credit and payments
- Credit is sold in whole-pound units. The minimum purchase is £1.
- You are paying for digital entertainment credit usable on this Service only.
- Card payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number on our servers.
- Prices are in GBP unless stated otherwise at checkout.
- Credit has no cash-out value and cannot be withdrawn, transferred to another platform, or redeemed for cash.
- Using credit for a “burn” or similar interaction is delivery of a digital entertainment feature, not a transfer of money to another person and not destruction of physical money.
Completing checkout constitutes your offer to buy digital credit on these Terms. We may refuse or cancel a transaction if we suspect fraud, abuse, or legal risk.
5. Refunds and chargebacks
Unused digital credit may be considered for a refund if you contact us promptly after purchase and the credit has not been spent in the experience. Once credit has been used for a digital interaction, that portion is generally non-refundable because the entertainment service has already been provided.
If you open an unjustified chargeback after receiving digital credit or using the Service, we may contest it with evidence of delivery and these Terms. Nothing here limits mandatory UK consumer rights (including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015) where they apply.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for fraud, money laundering, sanctions evasion, or any unlawful purpose;
- misrepresent the Service as real-money destruction, banking, investment, or gambling;
- attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, overload, attack, or disrupt the Service;
- submit illegal, threatening, harassing, or infringing content;
- interfere with others’ use of the Service or attempt to manipulate communal tallies dishonestly.
Words typed into the thought burner are intended for on-device animation only. Do not enter passwords, card details, or sensitive personal data there.
7. Coming-soon features
Modes labelled “coming soon” (including Shred It, Bury It, Flush It, Throw It Away) are not available yet and may change, be delayed, or never launch. No payment is taken for unavailable modes.
8. Availability and changes
The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We may update these Terms; the “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms for future use and purchases.
9. Intellectual property
The Poor Decisions name, branding, artwork, software, and site materials are owned by us or our licensors. You receive a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to use the Service for entertainment. You may not copy, sell, scrape, or commercially exploit our materials without written permission.
10. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties not expressly set out in these Terms, including implied warranties of satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. You use the Service at your own risk. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive losses, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunity, arising from your use of the Service or purchase of novelty credit.
Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to a purchase is limited to the amount you paid us for the unused portion of that purchase in the 12 months before the claim, except where liability cannot lawfully be limited (including death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud / fraudulent misrepresentation).
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the Service, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of law or third-party rights — except to the extent caused by our fraud or wilful misconduct.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live in the UK or elsewhere.
14. General
- Severability. If a clause is unenforceable, the rest remains in force.
- Entire agreement. These Terms plus the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement for the Service, replacing prior discussions on the same subject.
- No waiver. Failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of that right.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a reorganisation or sale.
- Third parties. Except as required by law, these Terms do not create rights for third parties under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
